In February of 2006 you wrote a wonderful article on Congenital Heart Defects. In fact, it's the only one I've seen in a parenting magazine, amazing since the subject is the most common birth defect in the U.S. February 7th-14th is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week, hundreds of parents across America petition their Governors for Proclomations (my family recieved one in 2009), hold fundraisers and try to spread Awareness to a problem America seems oblivious about. I was one of those oblivious Americans until my son was diagnosed 6 hours after birth with a serious heart defect and life-flighted 4 hours away for open heart surgery at 3 days old. Today, at 2 years old, he is doing wonderful, but what a scary ride and completely unexpected (and I had a 1.5 year old at home!) More parents need to be aware of the most common birth defect so they can prepare and ask their doctors the right questions and get proper screening. Could you please do another wonderful article helping to spread Awareness? Thanks.
