So I once again went to urgent care... I was so worried. I was convinced Mika had a bladder infection--and unfortunately I looked it up online and started worrying that she was going to have renal scarring and need a kidney transplant! So, we went to urgent care on the 4th of July and it was just diaper rash. A really bad one. Mika has never had it before so we didn't realize how much it can hurt! Poor babies that get it regularly. She has been teething--two molars broke through last night and two more are on the way soon--so the loose bowels from swallowing drool gave her a rash. We've now gone to urgent care for teething and diaper rash. No swimming for a few days but no kidney transplant! We still caught some fireworks and watched cops storm the house next door for having illegal fireworks. How was everyone else's fourth?

So sorry for poor Mika's diaper rash! Colton has never had one, thank goodness, we use Desitin at every diaper change as a preventative measure. Plus I love the way it smells, it kinda masks the pee smell... KINDA ;) I'm so glad I read this, I was about to start a discussion on molars. Colton has two that are gonna break thru any minute now and I wondered how many other of our kids have them yet, since no one else had mentioned them yet. I was thinking he may have an ear infection because he has been holding his head alot and been sorta cranky lately, I even took him to the dr last friday but his ears were fine. Then yesterday he opened his mouth really wide and I saw the two white swollen lumps in there, my poor baby! So I started with the acetaminophen today.

Poor Mika! Unfortunatly Rachael constantly has diaper rashes. She just got the most sensitive skin. No matter how often she's changed any time she's wet she's pretty much garuenteed a diaper rash. Currently she's fighting a yeast infection. This ones a first! Ugh its just terrible. Wow molars!! Rachael just barely got her 5th tooth! I haven't seen any molars yet but I'll have to look. But she's been teething like crazy so maybe thats whats going on. Our 4th was good. Rachael loved the fireworks. She fell asleep half way through though. Poor baby was exhausted. Rachael does not nap unless we are home. Ever. I can't believe she slept through the fireworks. We had awesome spot and it was loud.

We had a nice 4th of July also :) We were at a friend's lake party on Saturday, and that night they had their own fireworks show (where Brian incidently got 2nd degree burns on his hands from lighting them!) We put Payton down around 8-8:30, then got her up around 10pm to watch some of them. Because she was still half asleep, and because they were so loud, I'm not sure she really liked them. I would clap and make a big deal about how pretty and sparkly they were, and she watched, but wimpered every now and then. I started covering her ears, and she seemed fine with them. Monday night we watched the actual lake fireworks show...same thing-woke P up from sleeping, and went to the docks to watch with all the neighbors. She did better that time, and was extra cuddly because she was sleepy. No sleeping through them, though! I can't believe Rachael did! Payton's top 2 molars came through about 2-3 weeks ago. I looked back at her baby book and saw that the last teeth she had come in (top 2 incisors) was back in December!! I've been wondering when we'd see some more toofers! I accidently noticed they were there when I was brushing her teeth and she put her head back with her mouth open. Otherwise I wouldn't have known they were there. She didn't fuss or indicate she had new teeth at all! I don't see any signs of the bottom ones yet, but I do think her top eye teeth are coming in any time now...her gums look swollen.

I may start using desitin when she's teething next time as preventative. I jinxed myself by selling all my un-used desitin, powder, etc at a garage sale a month ago! I'm sorry to hear Rachael has diaper rash often. I never realized how painful it could be. Poor girl. At least she's been able to avoid teething for so much time! I found a cool website on the order of teeth-- www.babyworld.co.uk/information/baby/tee... I looked because I didn't know what canines were called. Apparently 14 months is around when you get 4 molars, so we'll be expecting some bottom ones soon. Maybe everybody else already got them but have happy teethers! I'm glad to hear everyone's 4th went well. We were comfy in the truck watching from far enough away, so maybe that's why Mika watched with us without worry and stayed awake.
