Does anyone know if its safe to give LO a decongestant? Shes starting to get my cold, and her nose is running like a faucet, also when shes sleeping you can hear her nose is congested and shes been coughing alittle. I was looking at the Pedicare decongestant drops online. Her Dr office has weekend hours but I dont think shes sick enough to take her yet, just feel bad for her little nose. Sucks that shes getting sick... I start work monday, and she cant be sick for the babysitter!!! Guess DF is taking some sick time.

You can try calling her pedi. My pedi office has an on call nurse for medical advice. If so they will probably tell you to give her.08ml of "tylenol" but i would ask first. do you have a humdifier that helps ghislain with his colds. And the bulb can suck out her boogies to help her breath better. how old is Kaylee?

Shes down for the night (hopefully) so I guess ill call in the morning. If you call after hours, and its not an emergency, theres a charge for calling. We do have a humidifier, it isnt set up though, didnt think of it until after I put her tobed. I looked in her nose, there arent any boogies that i can see, just a constant stream of snot.  Kaylees 8 1/2 months old. I googled the pedicare and found sites that say its safe for 6mo +, but I dont like to give anything unless the dr tells me to.

If she wakes up during the nigt you can use the bulb. hold one nostril down while you suck the gunk out of the other for better suction thats what my pedi said. my pedi also gave me the ok around 6mons and i understand how you feel. you should def try the humidfier it always helps my son. thats is crazy they make you pay for that.

after i posted my last comment i went onto the tylenol/pedicare website, they've taken all pediatric decongestants off the market. there are other brands. they make you pay bc of such large call volumes or something like that... they have an outside nurse triage service take their calls... they prob make the patients pay tohelp pay the company they use. like I said the exception is emergencies and calls that result in a visit the next day. i guess they figure everything else can wait until normal hours. Our pedi has four diff offices, over 20 providers... its huge.

Awww Im sorry she's not feeling well, it really sucks when they get sick....The humidifier is great I definately agree with Savannah that you should set it up and the snot sucker as well...be prepared for screaming though..Ella hates it but it helps.....you can get plug in vaporizers from the pharmacy also and maybe go to your local naturopath store and see what they have for congestion. Hope she feels better soon.

Poor Kaylee :(  All good advice from the others.  I agree 100% with the humidifier.  We keep Gabe's running all night, every night.  I think it has actually helped to prevent him from getting colds.  He was stuffy for a couple days once or twice, but that's all it amounted to, thank goodness.  I asked his doctor if she would prescribe anything for his stuffy nose, and she refused.  That was just a month ago.  Said he's too young.  She told me to just keep using the saline spray and bulb syringe, and the humidifier.  It seems like whenever my oldest son has ever gotten sick, it's been on a weekend.  It's like pulling teeth to get anyone to call in a prescription over the phone.  Get better, Kaylee <3
