Insomnia?

Anyone else having issues with insomnia? I can fall asleep fine, but when I inevitably wake up at 2 or 3 in the a.m. to go pee I have the hardest time falling back asleep! It literally takes 45 minutes to an hour just lying in bed before I fall back asleep. I can't imagine it'll get any better as my belly gets bigger!

Oh yes! Big time insomnia....I have it pretty bad when I'm not pregnant, but it gets much worse when I am. I've tried every natural thing I could find and nothing worked. I finally let my DR prescribe me Ambien. I told them no three times, but they convinced me that getting no sleep may put added stress on the baby. She had two other Drs come in to tell me there opinion and they all agreed. I've been taking it for two nights and I've never slept better in my life. I wake up feeling refreshed and I feel much better. I'll stop taking it when the baby gets here, but it's nice to get sleep before. Good luck! Have you tried melatonin or any oher natural sleep aids?

I'm hesitant to take anything to help me sleep. I'm thinking a glass of tea or reading for a bit might help...although the tea might have me up and peeing again in a couple hours and we are back to square one lol.

Haha, yes I felt the same way. I tried everything I felt was safe and natural, but it just wasn't cutting it. I have a 17 month old to run around after during the day and I didn't feel like I was alert enough to really be there for him. He was bored and acting out becuse I didn't have the energy to play with him. I didn't even feel comfortable driving!! This was most definitely my last resort.

I feel like when we need the sleep the most, we can't get it. This happened to me while I was pregnant as well. I would read and that helped get me to sleep faster for some reason.

Hang in there, I am afraid this is just the beggining, but it's all worth it. :)

Recently, I've been suffering from severe morning sickness and my sister, who happens to be an Ob/Gyn suggested I take a B-6 vitamin along with a Unisom tablet. She says the combination doesn't hurt the baby and will help me manage the severe stomach cramps. One side effect to this combination is taking the Unisom. Its a sleep aid so it may help with the insomnia. Please check with your physician before taking it.
