My husband and I are due with our first child, a girl, April 1st, and we're still deciding between a few names. Our first choice is Elliot, but a lot of people are giving us grief about it and now I'm second guessing myself. What do you think? Do you like it for a girl? Do you like the spelling? Or should I spell it something like Elliotte or Ellytte? Thoughts? Thanks!

Generally there are boy names that I like for girls, but I have to be honest and tell you I don't like Elliott for a girl name.

I am also a fan of boy type names for girls or "gender neutral" names but I agree that Elliott isn't one I love for a girl. I heard the name Ellison a few years ago and they call her Ellie for short. I thought that was really cute.
