Please be as specific as possible! For instance, if you usually grab a new-baby outfit, tell us which store you most often go to. Thanks!

I always do a gift basket of goodies for my friends. I get a little baby size laundry basket at Walmart (they are usually about 1.99 i think). Then I get products like baby wash, lotion etc at Walmart. I also put inat least two outfits, usually from Carters (sometimes I buy them at TJ Maxx) and a board book and a teether, etc. I usually spend $30-40 dollars total for the gift basket but because I shop sales I usually put in about $60-90 worth of stuff in the basket!

Since I'm a new mom myself, I buy my favorite things.  It took me a while to decide what I liked best, so I figure I can pass along the learnings.

  • #1 on the list is always the Carter's white hooded bear blanket.  It's so much easier than taking a coat off and on while getting in and out of the car and it actually stays on little heads!
  • Aquaphor diaper cream (hands down, the best that I've found); it's even great for chapped cheeks when they've been sick.
  • Acetaminophen; I prefer Target's Up & Up dye-free with dropper dispenser
  • Ibuprophen; again, I prefer Target's Up & Up dye-free
  • Little Tummies Gripe Water
  • Size 2 or 3 Huggies Snug 'n' Dry diapers

I always get a cute outfit, and I looove target!  I like Johnson's 3 in 1 no more rash, and I usually get bedtime bath and lotion (also Johnson and Johnson's, store brands are always watery). I also like to get people gas drops (lifesaver!) and a pack of cute socks.

I just gave a Tuckaroo Bib to my girlfriend and got a lot of ooohhhs and aaaahs.  No one has seen anything like this bib....genius!  It was a big hit and will be my go-to baby shower gift.

Ava Anderson Non Toxic Body Wash, Shampoo, & Lotion. These products share more than just a clean body, they share a message. They were gifted to me when my child was born and I now give them to everyone I know who is pregnant or has kids. They gave me the peace of mind every new parent is looking for. We spend every minute worrying about the choices we make for our children and with Ava Anderson I didn't have to worry. They have the safest products out there hands down.

I didn't have to worry that some news story was going to come out about formaldahyde being found in my babies body wash. Yikes!! What was Johnson and Johnson thinking!

Ava Anderson does their research to make sure we are using the safest products on our selves and our children. All their products are organic, gluten freee, paraben free, phthalate free, no sodium lauryl sulfate, any chemical that could possibly cause harm will never be found in their products!! I LOVE this stuff!!!

The just released a babyline...which may be my new favorite, but for now, I could not do without the shampoo, body wash, and lotion for my little one. She has never had eczema or any other skin condion related to Ava, just baby soft skin. Can't say enough good about them, but I'll stop here. Check it out for yourself.

I have two different go to gifts.
#1 a diaper cake/trike/baby.  These are fun to make.  Using diapers, blankets, burp cloths, toys and more.  You can create it special for the mom-to-be or new mom.

#2 a car seat cover/canopy.  I make my own, but you can find them online too.  They are all about the same.  I love mine.  It has saved baby from attacking strangers on many occasions.  I made mine with a mesh window in the front so I can see baby while baby is still covered and protected.

I would just be leary of giving Johnson and Johnson anything right now they have been cited several times lately for finding formaldehyde in their products, serisously unsafe for baby.
