Healthy Eating

So I'm a stay at home mom and don't eat very healthy. At my last depo shot appointment the nurse said I had lost more weight and wanted to know if that was normal and if everything was ok. I told her I don't eat like I used to...I've always been a junk food eater but always had a good appetite (eaten a lot)! Ever since I had my daughter a year ago, I've not had much interest in eating. When I do eat it's usually unhealthy and I have always had a sweet tooth. How can I satisfy my sweet tooth and eat healthier? Because I'm not eating a lot, I want what I do eat to be healthier!

My husband and his family have a weight problem (due to unhealthy eating) and I know if I ate and prepared healthier meals, my husband would benefit from it too! I also want my 1 year old to see us eating healthy, not junk. I want her to grow up eating well so she doesn't fall into the same weight problem my husband's family faces.

Any suggestions would be great, healthy moms!

I totally understand your concern!  Here are some fun ways I get my kids to eat healthy.

1)Fruit! Lots of fruit! Kids can't get enough of it. You have a sweet tooth? Then do something fun like dipping your bananas or strawberries in some chocolate syrup.  That never fails.

2)Veggies a problem? I make it a game. Like, "I dare you to try these tomatoes! They are so good! MMMM!" If they don't fall for it, them just let them watch you enjoy yours.  They'll come around.

3) Salads-My son loves salads now.  He didn't wanna try them at first but then I got the crazy idea to add pepperoni slices in it!  So he had a pepperoni salad!  He loves it. Dressing? you can't go wrong with Ranch!

These are just some of the things that I do.  My kids are generally healthy eaters, but the best way to get them to eat well is by setting the example.  If you're not eating fruits and veggies, you're kids won't either.  Try mixing it up.  Also, if you add stuff in their dinners without telling them and they don't ask, and eat it all up...what they don't know won't hurt 'em!

Love Mrs. Rudy's ideas!

Lead by example! Eat well and your kids will!

It's really important to model good eating habbits for your kids. It's even better if you can make it fun for them! I bought a  juicer machine and my daughter and I make organic fruit juices together every Saturday. She gets more excited to experiment in the kitchen than she does to watch cartoons!
