1st time Moms due soon!
5 months ago  ::  Jan 08, 2013 - 10:48AM #1
Hi ladies!  I thought it might be nice to start a thread where first time Moms can post their pregnancy and labor/delivery questions for "veteran" Moms to answer.  Can you believe your due dates are coming next month?!  I know I had a ton of questions when I was pregnant with my first and some seemed too silly to ask my Doctor.  So, I asked on here and always got great answers from other Moms!  Feel free to post your questions for other Moms to answer!

I do have a question.

Okay, my lil girl is a mover, she is a kick boxer some days.

I was wondering about contractions. I thought that a contraction would be low in the pelvic region which I get a pain in sometimes while walking and have to stop. My doctor said though that a contraction would feel like my stomach hardening.

Sometimes I feel my daughter push really hard on my stomach.

How do I know the difference between a contraction or just her pushing a lot?

Hope that made sense. Thanks.

I went through 23 hours of labor with my 1st child and the way I would describe it is hardening that lasts a short period of time and then relaxes.  The hardening took over my entire stomach and then it would relax.  It's hard to explain but I really feel you will know the difference.  I worried about the same thing but it was very different when I started feeling contractions compared to what his kicks and pushing on me felt like.  When I felt the first hardening sensation I wrote down the time and kept a journal as the hour went on.  I started to see a pattern and then called my dr.  Does that help at all? lol :)
