I think we all tend to be a little hostile towards are husbands. I know I sure did and do and I know a lot of women who claimed the same thing. I know what works for me is if I feel myself getting worked up or super aggravated with him, I just take some time away. Really think about the issue and see if I'm being overly sensitive over a matter (because as much as we don't want to admit it our hormones are all over the place) or if its a true matter that needs to be discussed. Some times just a little space allows us the time to cool off a little even if the matter needs to be discussed further. As long as you are not stressing yourself way out, if that makes since. If you do find yourself stressed find something to take the edge off. I'm sure your baby is perfectly fine. And sounds like what you and dh are going through is perfectly normal. You may explain to him that you may need him to be a little more patient with you and understanding. I hope you guys work through this and just remember all the craziness will be worth it.

Hi Molly,

It sounds small as far as a number goes but we all come in different shapes and sizes and that just might be your normal. Your doctor will guide you when it comes to weight gain.

Make sure you are taking good care of yourself, eating right and getting plenty of rest. It's hard working making a baby :)

Molly,

My advice for getting upset would be to pay attention to when it happens. For example, my hubby and I tried to go on a day-time date after our doctors appointment last week. We were going to grab a bite to eat & go to the museum. Well, it was harder than I expected to find a place to eat near the museum, and I sort of lost it on him. Even while I was taking out my anger on him, I knew it wasn't his fault, and I was so upset with myself for messing up what was supposed to be a fun day.

Long story short, we decided to head elsewhere for food. As soon as I got a few bites of food in my mouth I felt so much better. I learned I need to always keep snacks in my purse to avoid meltdowns like that!

Great idea!

I actually have a question that can only be applied to women who have already given birth, so this is perfect!

I am curious to do a little comparison "experiment" of sorts. When your mother gave birth to you, did she go into labor early, on time or late? And then when YOU went into labor with your child, was it early, on time, or late? Thanks!

Great question!  My Mom was induced 2 weeks after my due date.  I wasn't going anywhere lol!  I went into labor with my 1st the day after my due date and had my son the next day so he was 2 days late.  However, I labored with him for 23 hours and had an emergency c-section so my 2nd child was a planned c-section at 38 weeks, 6 days.

My mom went a month over with my sister. Finally went into labor but would never dialate past 3cm. So she had a c-section with my sister, me and my brother. my Mom does not have a full spine so they think that may have contributed and that she had large babies. My sister went into labor a few days before her due day dilated to a 10 started pushing then started to close back up. Ended in a c- section my nephew was to big they determined. Me I went a week over. In labor 7 1/2 hours including 1/2 hour of pushing and had my son. I think a lot has to do with your body type.  I'm built very different then my mom and sister. As my mom s always told me I had birthing hips (gee thanks). And my son was a lot smaller then their Babies.

Hi Chelsea!  Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy :)  I don't know alot about Down's Syndrome besides what I'm sure you already know.  I do have a daughter who was born with special needs and I wasn't aware she would be special needs until she was born.  I often wish I had known in advance to some degree so I could mentally prepare as you are doing.  I applaud you for your great attitude!  Down's Syndrome kids that I've been around are in one word AWESOME!  My daughter has a boy in her class with it and I have 2 friends who have children with Down's.  Happiest, most joyful children!  I wish you all the best in your journey!  HUGS!
