Does your little one still Nap?
2 years ago  ::  Jul 20, 2011 - 3:20PM #1

Okay thats not my only question. But they are all related to sleep!!  Do your little ones still nap? if so How long do they nap for?  What time is bed time for your little one? and How long do they sleep for at night? Do they still wake up in the middle of the night?? Is anyone still in a crib??

The reason I ask is because I just read an article in one of the parenting mags I get that talked about the importance of sleep for toddlers and how night time sleep is more important than naps but naps are still important. In this article it stated that toddlers should be going to bed between 6-8 at night and sleeping for 11 -12 hours at a time. Nap time should be between 3-4 hours long and the child should be up for at least 4 hours before bedtime.

James and Isaac go to bed anywhere between 830 and 1030. I try really hard to get them into bed and be reading stories at 8:30 but sometimes it doesn't happen till 930 10 and there are other times that even though I have gotten them in bed by 830 they are up goofing off till 1030 -11. they usually sleep till 730 8 and usually James will try and come into our bed at least once a night.

Nap time they sleep for about an hour or two.

We have actually been trying to cut naps in the past week or so, but he is such a crank monster sometimes. If we are just home all day, I let him stay up. But if we go anywhere in public, or to the park, the beach, anywhere that requires using energy, I make him come home and nap. But since its so hot during the day, we stay indoors until after dinner, so usually he gets to stay up. However, today is the first day that I made him nap. He is just being a Bear (pun intented) and he didn't put up a fight. Plus Callie, my cat, LOVES napping with him.

Bedtime: Bedtime is at 10pm and he wakes up between 7:45-9am. Last week it was 7:45, this week its 9am. He never puts up a fight, we go potty, put jammies on, brush teeth, get our glowstick, say goodnight to Daddy and then hop in bed. I lay down with him for about 10 minutes in the dark and we talk about our day. Then we say goodnight and I close the door, and he's asleep maybe 5 minutes after that. He loves his sleep, and I have exactly one year until he goes to school, so I need to get him on a better schedule before then. I have plenty of time though. He is such a CRAB in the morning if he doesn't wake up on his own. Just like his Mommy : ) LOL

Bed: He hasn't been in a crib since he was 18months old when he climbed out. He has a queen sized bed, which is nice to snuggle with him at night, but it is a huge pain when he pees the bed.

Wake up in the middle of night? Umm, nope. Little Teddy was like 2 months old when he started sleeping through the night! The only time he wakes up is sometimes occasionally he will throw up in his sleep and wake up crying, or sometimes if he pees the bed he will get up and tell us. Maybe 5 times a year??

Do your little ones still nap? Yes

How long do they nap for?  1-2 hours at school she usually goes down between 1110-1145 and naps till 145 at the latest.  Although some days she does not nap she just lays there.  Saterday and Sundays she does not usually nap but always has an hour of quiet time in her room regardless.

What time is bed time for your little one? 715 but keep in mind during the week she is also up at 520

How long do they sleep for at night? Well I put her to bed so she could get 10 hours but I would say she averages 9 to 9.5

Do they still wake up in the middle of the night. No, unless she has a nightmare or gets up to pee and the latter I never know about.

Is anyone still in a crib?? No

Do your little ones still nap?

Nope no nap here.  Sometimes he falls asleep in the afternoon, but rarely.  He is mellow right now though he is stretched on the couch and resting.  I doubt he will sleep.  If he is cranky I enforce quiet time in his room but things are kinda hopping around here usually.

What time is bed time for your little one?

This varies.  TECHNICALLY it is 8.  BUT if he is tired I have put him down as early as 6:30, but usually it is between 7 and 9, this is up in the air more this time of year.  Sometimes we are playing outside until 9.

and How long do they sleep for at night? he gets up between 6:30 and 8 so again 10-12 hours but in the school year he will go to bed no later than 8 and get up no later than 7.

Do they still wake up in the middle of the night??

Like everyone else only on occasion for nightmares or potty but not usually

Is anyone still in a crib?? Nope we moved him out at 17 months I think.  He has a twin sized race car bed that all my kids have used.

and I should probably clarify that they share a full size bed we have them sleeping  so that James lays parrelle to the foot of the bed and ISaac lays parelle to the head of the bed, it gives them more room that way however I do believe that if they were each in their own bed we wouldn't have half the going to sleep issues we have!!!

Do your little ones still nap? Yes, she's at a point now that if she skips a nap it's not the end of the world, but if she skips a nap several days in a row, we're in trouble.  So not ready to give them up, but doesn't need them every day.

How long do they nap for?  2-3 hours... sometimes I wake her up at 3 so she'll go back to sleep later.

What time is bed time for your little one?  8:30-9.  It used to be 8, but we'd be up in her room 4 or 5 times telling her to quiet down and go to sleep, so we pushed it back a bit, let her play a little more and she's usually out within minutes.  We do bath at 8, a little more playtime, stories, and try to have lights out by 9.

How long do they sleep for at night? During the week she's up by 7:45 or 8, so 10-11 hours?  On weekends though the girl can SLEEP!  She'll be down from 9:30 or 10 to at least 9 a.m., usually 9:30 or later.

Do they still wake up in the middle of the night?  Only if she's had a bad dream, other than that, no.

Is anyone still in a crib?  Nope, she's in a toddler bed. She's been in the bed since January I think?  I can't remember now.

Do your little ones still nap? Yes but not every day. Em does not nap and Mo naps every day but I am going to start phasing them out to see if it helps him sleep better at night. Matt is good either way. He has no problem taking one if he needs it.

How long do they nap for? anywhere from 30 min to 3 hrs

What time is bed time for your little one? 7-8pm I'm a little more lax with bedtime during the summer though. All 3 have the same bed time. But Mo will still be awake long after the other 2 fall asleep.

How long do they sleep for at night? 11-12 hrs. We are usually all up by 7-7:30 during the summer, but 6-6:30 during the school year.

Do they still wake up in the middle of the night? just like everyone else said or if Morgan wakes him up. Morgan has issues with waking at night due to his autism.

Is anyone still in a crib? no the boys have twin over full bunkbeds. Matt has the top and Mo has the bottom.
