I'm fairly sure thats what these are... tightness in my abdomen, rock hard uterus etc... whats concerning me is that I'm still having a hell of a time breathing! COME ON!! I have asthma, and this feeling feels just like the beginning of an asthma attack. My doc told me that the "real thing" labor contractions I woudlnt' be able to walk or talk through... well I feel like I'm pretty tough on the talking through an asthma attack have had to do it plenty of times since I developed this lovely problem 26 years ago... I'm not having them on a regular basis, but I'm sure this isn't asthma. I'm finding that I'm using my inhailer more now just in case! I don't want to go into labor and have an asthma attack at the same time... not cool... anyone else know what I'm talking about? Any thoughts?

I have asthma too. I had a really hard time in the summer with the humidity and when my 2nd child was born I had a cold, and asthma attacks. I was on so many drugs the night before I felt bad when she was born. She was born via a c-sec but I didn't have too many problems once she was born. I had my son in Dec via a vaginal birth and my asthma didn't give me any problems. It seem spring and fall(last week was really bad for me), and humid weather are my worst times of year. Once that pressure is off your diaphram you will be able to breathe easier. I just noticed your due date is Dec. I have 2 kids born in Dec :)

The tightness and rock hard uterus could be BH. If you already have asthma, it seems like being pregnant would just make it that much worse. Though I am no expert, I'm just saying what makes sense to me. As baby gets bigger, it's harder to breathe. Add asthma to that and it seems like it would be even that much harder. I would definitely talk to your OB about it. And again when you go to the hospital. You may need oxygen while you're in labor.

I don't have asthma but I've noticed a slight tightness in my chest and just a tad of shortness of breath when I have BH. I only have a few of them a day, but I do notice some really minor breathing issues when I get them. I'm thinking it's normal, yours is just a little more severe because you already have asthma like pp's said. At least we don't have too many more weeks of this:) You'll know a real contraction when you feel one. There will be no doubt in your mind and you'll miss these practice contractions!! Hang in there!!

thanks all... I def need to talk to my OB... these have been creeping in since Friday... Not so painful that I'm feeling like a hospital trip is in order... just don't want to over do it on the asthma drugs. I was taken off of my regulatory asthma medicine when I first found out I was pregnant, because of possible birth defects linked to Flovent. That in its self has made these past 8 months tougher. yoey -- I hope I make it to December! :0) I'm due on December 3rd, but I think this might just be a turkey baby! :0)

I am right there with you! It is completely normal, and it SUCKS! Everytime I have a BH, I know its coming because my heart starts pounding, and then my chest gets tight. Within a few seconds, I will have the contraction., The cx does not hurt at all, and the worst part is the chest tightening. It drives me nuts!!!!!
