done. =)
After discovering that the very difficult to use Rx diaper rash treatment prescribed for our son's raw li'l bum in the special care nursery (poor lil man spent 17 days in that wretched place) though i dont recall the brand name.. it was made up of white petrolatum... so rather than risk tearing off our poor DS's skin... we decided to try plain ole vaseline instead... and shocking as it may seem, it cleared it right up! We now exclusively use petroleum jelly (sometimes vaseline brand, sometimes store brand, but either way they're the same thing) and the rash has been gone ever since.. though, since it takes 3 months for the skin to fully heal, it does flare up a bit if he gets diarrhea.. but never even close to as bad as it got in the nursery... (it was HORRIFYING how bad they let it get! as if he wasn't suffering enough!)
I honestly don't understand why more people don't use it... its the main ingredient in Aquaphor & various other treatments.. so why waste money on overpriced treatments when something like vaseline does the trick for a fraction of the cost?! Of course it can be gooey and messy... but thats what gloves are for. =)
I know, I know... TMI.. but maybe this will lead SOMEone who's at their wits' end to give it a shot... and discover how great it really works!! Our son's bottom thanks us, and I'm sure your LOs' hineys will too! ;)
