I have really bad asthma and allergies and i was just wondering if any of you moms-to-be out there have the same thing going on. If so what medications are you on to control it? I am on advair and proair.

Its better for the baby to have controlled asthma symptoms during pregnancy. So keep taking your medications but talk to your doctor. About a third of women have their asthma symptoms get worse during pregnancy, 1/3 have it get better and the other third have no change in symptoms. But not taking your inhaler and using them properly is worse for the baby-oxygenated blood is important for the growing fetus.

I have asthma, but doesn't flair up regularly. I have attacks where my eyes swell shut, my throat almost completely closes, and my body is covered is raised hives. They don't know what causes it so here's praying it doesn't happen while im pregnant because the only solution is LOTS of benedryll.

that's one issue me and my ob are "debating". he wants me to take my preventative and emergency inhalers on a regular basis but my pharmacists and other inlaws that work at the hospital say NO rx during this 1st trimester. mine is not real bad but i did get sent to the breathing dr. for tests last week and definately have asthma. i've never had an attack so much that i had to go to the ER or anything like that. i can't lay flat cause i lose my breath, i lose my breath a lot laughing. i turn purple when i exercise and i dont excercise hard like on the biggest loser. i'm working on my 7th week with my 3rd. i'm way more paranoid with this one than any of the others.

'm ashmatic but i'm not using my rescue inhaler, I had a later term loss and my doctor and i are just playing it very close to the vest this time. I donthave spontaious attacks and i know a number of techniques to reduce any attacks I do have. mine is more activity and environmentally induced so i can live without meds. it's just meant that I cant work out, i'm limite to walking only and have to take it easy. I hve noticed it's been worse with pregnancy, but then allergy season this year has been super horrible for everyone so that may be the true culprit. But it's true that if you have acute asthma it's far better to take your meds.. ignore any nervous nelly that tells you otherwise, they're not your doc and they're not you. If it makes YOU nervous you can always talk to your doc about alternate therapies or reducing the dosage on your current meds.
