I was just curious to see what everyone's "plan" was for birth?? I'm sure it's pretty varied so it would be interesting to know how many of us plan to give birth at a hospital, at home, birthing center, unassisted, etc... My "plan" is to give birth at the hospital with my doctor that i have had for 6 years, a fast labor with an epidural!

I will be giving birth at the hospital with my ob. However, they are wonderful because if I want to labor in a tub or use a birthing ball... I can. I'm not restricted to doing things "their way". They are very unconventional from what they say. I hope to deliver without drugs. Though, I'm going into it all with an open mind.

haha. i laugh at the idea of a birth plan for us. my "ideal" birth is me going into labor on my own, laboring at home as long as possible, then going to the hospital and giving birth quickly and w/out an epidural...i think there is a fat chance of that happening--for multiple reasons. mostly because i think this baby is as big (or bigger) than my last one. w/ my DD i was induced 12 days early (due to pregnancy induced high blood pressure), labored for 13 hours (after they broke my water), pushed for 2 1/2 and then my daughter was "assisted" out of the birth canal w/ forceps. if this baby is as big (or bigger) i'll be asking for an induction and an epidural before my due date. i'll actually be talking to my midwife about what the options are at my next appt. i hope they are willing to do an induction, because if not, i could be in a world of hurt or ending up in a c-section (which is NOT what i want, but if it's the best option for me and the baby i'll do whatever it takes.) i think birth plans are great, but get tossed out the window when the time actually comes for birth because it's not about what i want really, it's what's best for the baby and me in the long run.

We plan to give birth at the hospital with my ob. I will labor at home as long as possible. My placenta may have other plans though! LOL It is laying very low, and hasn't moved up at all yet. Doc is a little concerened that it is so close to the cervix. Not quite previa, but really close. We have another US on the 4th. He will check it again then.

If I have regular contractions or my water breaks at home I will quickly rush to the hospital. :0) If I have time I will get an epidural but my "induced" labor with my son went so quickly once I started contractions and my water breaking I just don't know what i'll have time for! (since they say 2nd labors go quicker then 1st) haha My plan really is to just MAKE IT TO THE HOSPITAL. We have about a 20 minute drive and although DH is a trained EMT and can deliver a baby I would just rather have her in the hospital with my dr. :0)

I am having a natural birth, actually a water birth, at a birth center with my midwife. I'm really excited about it.

I'm hoping for a natural birth, but I know that whatever happens will happen. I'm going to prepare for natural birth with pain management, but if I end up with an epidural, it'll be okay. :-)

I am having my baby at a "baby friendly" hospital with my midwife. I plan to have a non-medicated delivery, but may use nitrous oxide if the hospital offers it by then.

Not really a plan, but a hope... fully natural birth experience at a hospital with my OB, hubby, and my sister assisting. I am hoping to get by with just hypnosis for pain because the thought of an epidural freaks me out and I am allergic to most pain medications. I sometimes lose feeling in my legs due to a chronic medical condition and that drives me much crazier than the pain I usually have so I think not being able to feel anything would make me feel worse than the pain... but who knows right? Maybe something will go wrong and I won't be able to avoid it. I am not going to kick myself if things don't go as I wish... this will be my first time giving birth so I really will just have to go with the flow. :)
