So since my daughter turned 2, she's been getting up a lot in the night with what seems like bad dreams. We're usally able to get her back to sleep with a bottle (I know she should be using a sippy cup, but she just isn't ready to give it up) and sometimes she insists we either sleep in her room or leave a light on (she has a night light on). She sometimes does this 2-3 times a night and it feels like we have a newborn again! Although I'm pregnant with my 2nd baby and due in March, I was kind of hoping to rest up for the next few months! My husband works 6 days a week so I can be a stay-at-home mom, so I end up getting up with her most of the time so he can rest for work. I hope this is just a stage and she grows out of it before the next baby comes, because I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to breastfeed a newborn all night and tend to her!
We have made sure we're not watching any scary shows/movies before bed and we also make sure she has nothing to eat after 7pm. We only allow her a bottle before bed. Any suggestions on how to help her and I sleep better would be appreciated!

Hi There, Poor little thing! I have a two year old daughter and she just started doing the same thing. I end up laying in bed with her and falling asleep because it's easier than having to get up again when she wakes up for the second or third time due to a bad dream. I only know it's a bad dream because this morning she told me that a monster was trying to scratch her eyes. I think you just have to find what works best for you and your family. For us it's me getting up and laying down with our daughter. You could try a night light. You could try a flash light that she can turn on when she feels scared. My son went through this sort of thing when he was two or three and we did a few things. We took a can of room spray and put our own label on it "Monster-B-Gone" he would spray it every night before bed. Get creative, keep trying until you find something that works. Congratulations on baby #2:) Tammy

We were taking turns sleeping in her room, but being pregnant it's hard. My husband was taking turns with me, but has gotten lazy and now offers her options like watching tv at 3 in the morning or sleeping in our bed (he swore she'd never sleep in our bed). These are both bad habits that we need to stop now, before the baby comes in 10 weeks! She does have a night light in her room, but I'm not sure how else to stop this...hopefully it's just a stage that she'll grow out of soon!

If I had a nickle for all the things I swore I would never do as a parent......:) I have a friend that reads books and records them and then plays the recording and sets her daughter in bed with the book and she is usually asleep before the recoding is finished. I love this idea but I have yet to get around to doing it. I'm sure it will all work out. Take good care of yourself Catlin, 10 weeks will be here before you know it.
