A friend of mine who is in her 2nd trimester has come down with a cold of some sort. She went to the ER because she was coughing so hard it worried her. They tested her for flu, strep, etc. and it was all negative so she's back home. They prescribed something to help with her symptoms but she's uncomfortable taking any prescription meds while pregnant. I hate to see her so miserable but I respect anyone's decision as far as that goes. Do you take meds while pregnant if you get sick or just let it run its course?

Hi Christine, I am weird about taking medicine even when I'm not pregnant. I just really try to let my body fight off what ever is going on. I also try to be smart about it and make sure I'm headed in the right direction, getting better instead of worse. My father in Law is a doctor and he says that the flu or a cold lasts 7 days if you don't treat it and a week if you do :) I have friends, my husband as well believe why suffer, that's what meds are for. What about you Christine? Tammy

I'm a "why suffer" person when it comes to meds while I'm sick. However, when I was pregnant I analyzed everything very carefully that was prescribed to me or over the counter to make sure it was safe for baby.

So what do you do when your spouse won't take meds when they are sick? LOL!
