When Did Your Baby Star Talking?

When did your little one start talking?

My daughter turned two this past weekend and she only says a few words and only the family can tell what she is saying. She understands everything and can follow directions but she isn't talking as much as I thought she would be.

She has two older siblings.

I have friends that say not to worry, but I am, just a little.

One things she says is "you're mean or you're nice" depending on her mood :)

I would love to hear talking stories about your babes.

My son especially was a talker. Before he knew words he would babble on like crazy. I taught him basic signs for words like cup, milk, and more because he knew what he wanted, but would melt down when he couldn't communicate it. He did really well with that. He was an early talker though, I can't remember the details because it was nine years ago. But my hubby's favorite was the way he said "ta-too" for thank you. It was cute.

My daughter learned plenty of words early on too, bit she was more reserved than my son. My favorite story was from when she was about 2 1/2. She used to drop the s on her s-blend words so a spoon was a poon etc. Well one day she walks up to me holding a hangar and a ruler and she tells me, "Mommy, these are my words (swords), and if anybody tries to take them, I'll mack em!" (smack em). This is still one of our favorite family stories! :)

All of the sudden my 2 year old stared to put her words together. Now she says "thank you mommy" "I love you too" It's not clear to people other than family though.

I love the way they say some things. My daughter used to say Matar instead of guitar and we just thought it was the cutest!
