I'm wondering what age you started your child in preschool or if they ever went.
My first one started at age 4 and then went to kindergarten.
My second didn't go to preschool because we had two in town close and all the others filled up fast. He did fine going to kindergarten without it.
My third child will be three in January. I am hoping to start her in preschool in September of next year but I'm not sure if she will be ready. Any thoughts?

Neither of mine have been to preschool or public school. I subscribed to a monthly program for a year when my son was 3 1/2 in which we received a packet of preschool age materials each month. Usually a project, a cd, stickers and a bunch of suggested activities all along a theme. It was fun and he loved it. My daughter was not interested, in fact she downright opposed learning her letters or the alphabet song or copying any letters. She just wanted to color and count. She's learning to read just fine now and I think is even a little ahead, but she still can't sing the alphabet song without help. Crazy huh?!
I think every kid and his/her needs are different. Some really need the extra time to get comfortable socially, or need the extra skill building, others don't.
Let us know what you decide, and what helps you make a decision. I appreciate reading how other parents handle schooling decisions no matter what kind of schooling they choose.

I forgot to mention that my kids are now 10 and 6 and in 5th and 1st grades respectively.
