Sticky: Answer & Win $500! As a parent, what worries you most about child ID theft?

TRUE OR FALSE: Checking my kid's credit report will tip me off to any instances of Child ID theft.

The answer is FALSE.

Checking a credit report may catch child ID theft if the criminal uses your child's NAME and SSN. In most cases, however, criminals match a different name to your child's SSN. A credit report won't catch that.

Question: As a parent, what worries you most about child ID theft? Share your thoughts for a chance to win $500.

Change batteries in smoke detectors. Check.
Spring cleaning. Check.
Semiannual credit/ identity check on our kids. What!!!

How tragic. :(

What worries me the most is that my kids will grow up, finish school, get a nice job and ready to face the world and later find out that their credit has been ruined.

I think the hard thing is knowing how to really protect your child since there are so many scams that you wouldnt necessarily think of.

I don't worry because of Legal Shield I have Kroll monitor and restore me and my family's identity with the Identity Theft Shield. As far as parents that don't own a Legal Shield membership they should worry because most people don't check their children's or their own social security number and credit history daily and your social as well as their's is out there in the doctor's office, dentist, school, etc. If you would like to know more information about protecting your family contact me today.
