I need advice! My son is 9 years old and is terrified to swallow a pill. He's always had a choking tendency since he was little. He's scared he will choke on the pill. Therefore, we still get liquid or chewables of any meds he has to take. They recently came out with a generic of his chewable allergy pill he takes once a day and he can't stand the taste of this new pill. A nurse friend of mine said she used the candy tic-tacs to teach her son. Does anyone have any suggestions on what worked for them? Also, how old was your child when you taught them? Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice!

My daughter puts it on her tounge and then takes a drink through a straw. Thats the only way she will do it. I love the tic tac idea! Tammy

I remember growing up my mom had a cup that had a little slot in it for the pill and when you drank out of the cup the pill just came out with the water. I remember it always working and me and my siblings never had any problems with swallowing pills. I wonder if they still make something like that. Haley

Oh wow, I've never heard of anything like that but it's definitely worth checking in to. Thanks Haley :) I have no idea how I learned to swallow a pill lol
