chicken pox...
3 years ago  ::  Nov 24, 2009 - 4:01PM #1

So my daycare provider told me yesterday that her nephew has chicken pox and her sister said she would stay home with him over thanksgiving if she didnt want to expose her 10 month old to it.  Well she's not so concerned but said she would check with me since my daughters currently the only kid other than her own right now.

What would you ladies do or say?  I'm currently waiting for a call back from my pedi - but so far what Ive heard is that she may be too young to contract it any way since she may still have some immunity from me. I'd feel bad telling my DCP I dont want her nephew going to their thanksgiving... I hope my pedi calls me back soon...

I know they have the vaccine and all now- but if they are going to get it- I'd rather do it while they are still this young and cant scratch themselves to death and spead it--  I think your LO would be just fine- there are much bigger things to worry about -

yeah I was thinking the same about the scratching... the nurse called me and there must be another Madilynn Lewis at our clinic cause she started saying that we got that vaccine.... and I was like hmmm I thought they got that when they were about 1... and then she asked her DOB again and she said something about having the wrong chart.... and then realized my daughter is 2 months and hasnt had the vaccine and said she would talk to the doc and call me back

I don't know much about it but my former supervisor told me that her daughter got chicken pox when she was 2 months from the daycare she was attending. hopefully that won't be the case. maybe the dr will say that she still has your immunity and you'll be safe :)

I rather all my kids get the pox instead of lice.  It's going around my daughter's school right now.  I know this is two weeks old, but I wouldn't worry.  Of course, this is from a mother who is not worried about H1N1.

Adam had H1N1 and me and Madi didnt get it... so I declined getting my vaccine... happy I did my friend who's son is about 2 mos older than madi had a reaction to it and now she's dealing with a 5 month old and a almost 5 year old by herself and feels like complete crap - As for lice I totally agree with you - the thought of getting lice makes me sick to my stomach I had a friend growing up that never got rid of it so my mom finally had to just forbid me to hang out with her...

I didnt worry about the chicken pox, and were fine - her son didnt pick it up from his cousin :) If she's gonna have it I'd rather it be when she's little... but I'd prefer if she got a bit bigger first
