ok so i have a step son me and my husband are currently fighting for and i have just had this wierd feeling lately like...how am i supposed to act since he isnt MY son?....so i asked my hubby should i just leave the diciplien to him or should i step in and be a mom like im gonna be to our son Bentley (due any day now) he said that to him im his mother and that i need to act like his mother. now that thats figured out has anyone had this problem too?

I have a 17 year old step-son whom we have had since he was about 9 years old. My husband feels guilty for things that have gone wrong in his life and is working most of the time so discipline falls to me. Just remember to fair and treat him as you would your own and you will do fine. These days I am very proud of my step-son as he has come a long way from where he started and continues to mature and turn in to a wonderful young man.

yeah my step son is only 2. so i mean he doesnt really remember his mom especially since his mom left him at the age of 1....and my husband was trying to get things stable so he could have his son back. the mothers parents have been watching him and now we are fighting for custoy because they think my hubby has moved on since we are having a son and we got married. the real reason they are fighting us is because they have fucked up with their own two kids and want another chance....its just super annoying because they know we will get him but they wont let us have him. it make me cry. especially since we only see him 1 time every 2 weeks (he is in Texas and we are in Colorado) and we were supposed to have him before my due date but noooooo they had to push the date past my due date because they know it was important to us to have him there for his brothers birth. we try to be as nice as possible but they keep pushing it and pushing it......=/

I know the feeling there... my boyfriends daughter has been in my life since she was 1 1/2 years old, she just turned 5 earlier this month, and her mother wasn't (and still isn't) a real mother... she lost custody of her soon after she was born to her mother (grandma) and daddy has been jumping through hoops ever since to get the custody turned over to him... starting out so young with her she never really wanted me to do anything it was always daddy but as she got older and realized how much of a mom i am to her the closer she and i have gotten, although we still have our differences and don't always get along her father and i decided after about a year of being together that she had to listen to me as a parent as well as an adult (pretty much when i tell her something she's got to listen as if dad asked her, and he would back me up) i have never spanked her because time outs and talking about the issue never failed me... and i never forced her to call me mom (mainly because i wanted her to understand that i'm not her mom but i love her like i was and at under 2 they don't understand that yet)... she calls me by my first name but i have a feeling that it may change when baby comes and starts speaking... but the grandmother is the same way... she screwed up with her kids and shes trying to make it right with her grandchild, but in the process is ruining her marriage to her husband who wants to retire and not worry about kids anymore, so hopefully all this hoop jumping will come to an end this year i'd love to have baby's first christmas be with the family offically together <3 i hope you the best of luck , happy baby <3
