Our LO just turned 17 months on the 5th. The last couple of weeks my husband and I have been noticing that when we change our LO she is overly curious about touching her privates-semi normal- (she of course has done this occasionally for many months now) but she has begun to stick her fingers directly in her mouth afterwards. We are becoming very worried and uneasy about this behavior. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any suggestions or comments would help a lot. Thanks

You could start by tring to distract you child from doing that sort of thing. My daughter is two and seems to really like putting her hand in a poopy diaper (while it's still on her) She will come to my and say "stinky" I think what you sicribe seems to be normal but if you are worried, ta;l to her doctor and he can let you know for sure. when both my son and daughter were little they always had their hands in their diapers or were touching their privates during diaper and my hubby was a bit freaked out. What we ended up doing was reserving a special toy for changing time that they got to hold when and only when they were being changed. and as soon as they were done being changed, the toy went away. This made it so that during their whole diaper changing time they didn't want to put the toy down for a second. We also started dressing them in onesies all the time under their clothes so that they couldn't stick their hands down their pants. thelifeofapreggomom.blogspot.com/

It's normal for kids to want to explore down there, they are still figuring out what everything is and how it works. Definitely wipe down her hands before she can get them in her mouth and if it really bothers you, try a toy like Nessa said.
It can be awkward for the parents but the kids don't really know that it isn't socially acceptable behavior until they get older. They're just curious.
